Classes for Older Kids in Ditmas Park

We’ve looked at some classes you can take with your baby, some music classes for toddlers, but what about fun things that older kids and teens to do? Here are some options that are starting up soon in the area:

Hip Hop Dance Classes at Latin Fever
Kids ages 9-17 can bust a move (or whatever the cool kids say these days) in a beginner’s or advanced hip hip class. Registration is open through Sunday, January 13, and classes meet on Wednesday evenings at the Cortelyou Road studio.

Art Classes with Karen Friedland
Small group classes available for budding artists in elementary and high school (and for adults as well), taught by neighbor Karen, who has 12 years of teaching experience. Children’s classes will meet  in the afternoons in her Prospect Park South studio, and they begin in February.

Dinosaur Training at Midwood Martial Arts
Teens can join adults in this class to “train like we did in the old days (when dinos roamed the earth).” Starts tomorrow, Saturday, January 12 at 3pm.

Art Class at Lark
Kids ages 6-10 will learn to express themselves through color, shape, line, texture, and form with artist Erin Hall Deneuville of Bristle & Turp Traveling Art Studio during this 10-week class that starts on January 26 and runs on Saturdays at 11am.

Seeds Class at Brooklyn Botanic Garden
A little trip from the neighborhood, but it’s a chance to dig in the dirt! Kids from 4-6 work in small groups to care for garden plots and participate in cooking, exploring the wonderful outdoors, crafting, and other fun activities. Classes are on Saturday mornings, and the session starts tomorrow.
