CIA Traffic Update
Another week, and still no discernable enforcement of traffic laws on Coney Island Avenue. Photo from reader alsivi, who says:
Years of complaints and nothing has ever changed… It was, is and will continue to be a mess that is ignored by the city. Local residents don’t count and do not have a voice. The fact that these conditions are illegal does not concern our police, our community Board or our elected officials. I quit.
If you share that frustration, this month is a chance to voice it in person to the people in charge. According to the Community Board 12 website, the first meeting of the season is on Tuesday, September 11 at 7pm at the Amico Senior Center, 5901 13th Avenue, 3rd Floor. The first 66th Precinct Community Council Meeting is Thursday, September 19 at 7:30pm at the same place.
If you can’t make it to a meeting, here’s how to contact them via email or phone:
Community Board 12: bkcb12@gmail.com, 718-851-0800
66th Precinct: 66pctnypd@gmail.com, 718-851-5611
Councilmember Mathieu Eugene: MEugene@council.nyc.gov, jrogoff@council.nyc.gov, 718-287-8762
Speaking of meeting with people about this in person, anyone else wondering whatever happened to that public meeting to discuss traffic calming issues that Councilmember Eugene promised to organize “in the next few weeks” back in July?
