Check Out Neighbor Reed Slater’s Tea Scarves Next Month At Baguettaboudit

Starting Wednesday, July 16, swing by Baguetteaboudit (270 Vanderbilt Avenue between Lafayette and Dekalb Avenues) to check out some unique accessories for sale by a local artist Reed Slater of Tea Scarf.

Reed, who studied industrial design at Pratt and who has been living in Clinton Hill since 1996, started his company last year. He dyes fabric with–of all things–tea bags.

Reed first steeps the bags, then places them on paper. They leave images that are then transferred onto bamboo scarves produced in Brooklyn.

“I’m showing the inherent beauty of tea,” Reed says. “I’m just demonstrating what tea bags can do.”

Stop by Baguetteaboudit during opening hours (7:30am-6pm daily) to see Reed’s scarves on display.
