Celluloid Heroes and The Car Tow Shuffle: 2015 South Slope Film Shoot Roundup
It’s no surprise that filmmakers love our neighborhood. We had our fair share of busy film crews in 2015 — including a host of tv shows and commercials.
Martin Scorsese, James Spader, John Turturro, and many others were either in front of or behind the camera. And of course, the stars always leave the neighborhood scrambling for parking.
Where better than our neighborhood for one of the best backdrops on the planet?
Here’s a list of just some of the film shoots throughout 2015:
- Neighbor John Turturro didn’t need to go far to film Crime, an HBO miniseries, which took over 17th Street in March.
- Crews freshened their breath with a Dentyne commercial on Prospect Park West in May.
- A new HBO series about the 1970s music industry and produced by Mick Jagger and Martin Scorsese shot in multiple locations in June.
- NBC’s crime drama The Blacklist with James Spader filmed around Prospect Park West in early August.
- In late August, the Twin Peaks reboot did some sort of filming at the Grand Prospect Hall making many David Lynch fans’ dreams come true.
- Téa Leoni was around Prospect Park Southwest for the filming of Madam Secretary earlier this month.
Did you see any film shoots in the neighborhood? Any good stories to share?
