Where To Celebrate St. Patrick’s Day In Ditmas Park

It’s time to celebrate the luck of the Irish, neighbors! From a parade to Irish music and plenty o’drinks, there’s many ways to have fun getting in touch with your inner Irishman around our area.

Thursday, March 12

  • Get your groove on during a traditional Irish music session at the Church Café Wine Bar (416 Church Avenue) from 7-10pm.

Saturday, March 14

  • Green-Wood Cemetery holds its Eminent Irish Trolley Tour from 1-3pm. Tour-goers will get a chance to learn about the illustrious sons and daughters of Eire, as well as the many unsung heroes, who are buried in the cemetery, including copper magnate Marcus Daly, India Ink manufacturer Charles Higgins, one-armed Civil War General Thomas Sweeney, and many others. Tickets are $15 for Green-Wood members and $20 for nonmembers. Go here to buy tickets.

Sunday, March 15

  • The Brooklyn St. Patrick’s Day Parade returns for its 40th year, and neighbors are invited to come celebrate all that is Irish, as bands, bag pipes, step dancers, and more take to the streets.  The procession begins at 1pm from 15th Street and Prospect Park West, then travels down 15th Street to 7th Avenue, along 7th Avenue to Garfield Place, up Garfield Place to Prospect Park West, and then back along Prospect Park West to 15th Street.
  • Hamilton’s (2826 Fort Hamilton Parkway, between E. 4th and E. 5th Streets) is offering a night filled with festivities, including live music, beginning at 5pm, from the contemporary Irish folk band The Cogan Brothers and Mark Farley. Plus, the restaurant will be offering Irish beer specials, including $4 glasses of Guinness, and a Shepherd’s Pie dinner special.

Tuesday, March 17

  • Highbury Pub (1002 Cortelyou Road) will be serving up complimentary corned beef and ham from 3pm until the wee hours of the night.
  • Bar Chord (1008 Cortelyou Road) is offering St. Patrick’s Day specials all night long as musicians play groovy tango, ska and folk classics.
  • Sycamore (1118 Cortelyou Road) will be celebrating with a special Irish Red Ale and shot of Jameson combo for $10, and Da Beef Stand will be dishing up “Paddy’s Disco Fries,” which include corned beef, gravy, Irish cheddar, cabbage pickle, and horseradish cream on top. Plus, there will be an awesome bake sale to raise money for Brooklyn College’s Global Medical Brigades, which is bringing supplies to Panama this year.
  • Wheated will have a special additional menu item – a plate of corned beef with cabbage, potatoes, carrots, onions seeded rye, Irish soda bread, and more. If you go as a group, they can serve up the meal family style. If you’re in a hurry, you can also grab it to go! Plus, they’ll have an Irish whiskey-based cocktail, deals on all their Irish whiskies, and $5 craft beers all night.
