Celebrate the changing of the seasons at Compost for Brooklyn’s annual Spring Plant Sale this Sunday, May 3 from 12pm-4pm. The folks at the community garden let us know they’ll have flowers — including coleus, petunias, marigolds, and salvia — basil, and herbs.

The sale will take place Compost for Brooklyn, located on the corner of Newkirk Avenue and E. 8th Street. All proceeds from Sunday’s event will benefit our neighborhood space and all the wonderful things they do for the community, including giving away trees, free composting and much more.

Then, next Saturday, May 9, Compost for Brooklyn will be celebrating International Compost Awareness Week with their free OpenBin NYC event from 11am-1pm at the garden. Everyone is invited to the free festivities, which will include a chance for neighbors to take a look at their compost system, lend a hand and learn more about the benefits of composting. There will be informal tours, compost-related activities and more.
