Buy The 2nd Street Home Of Jonathan Safran Foer & Nicole Krauss For $14.5M

Local novelists Jonathan Safran Foer and Nicole Krauss have put their 2nd Street home on the market for $14.5 million, according to the Daily News. In September, FiPS posted a rumor about the sale, adding that the literary couple already has another home in Cobble Hill.

The 7,670-square-foot, 6-bedroom, 3.5-bathroom limestone on 2nd Street between 7th and 8th Avenues is listed by Sotheby’s, which notes it has a private garden and parking area with a gated entrance on 3rd Street (considering what people will pay for a parking spot, maybe the home’s price tag isn’t so crazy?).

Is the price in line with pervious sales? According to public records, the writers bought the home in 2005 for $5.75 million, and the previous owners paid $788,000 ten years earlier. How about compared to other current sales in Park Slope? Well, there’s the 23-room, 9-bath Tracy mansion, which was put on the market last fall at $25M, and is now down to $15M. The only other residential place listed in the tens of millions right now is the 7-bed, 7-bath mansion at 45 Montgomery Place, which has been at $14M since coming on the market in September.

If the authors’ home were to sell at the list price, it would be the biggest home sale in Park Slope yet. Think it’ll make it?
