Cops put the cuffs this morning on the 31-year-old man wanted for raping a Coney Island woman at gunpoint in the stairwell of her apartment building and then committing another robbery an hour later.

The NYPD confirmed Raji Wilson was arrested in Manhattan at 8am Wednesday morning after a tip to Crime Stoppers led officers from the warrant squad to his location. At this time, the NYPD said they do not have information on the address where Wilson was picked up or whether he possessed any weapons at the time of his arrest. We’ll update this story when there is more information

Cops released Wilson’s name and photo Tuesday evening. Police say he stalked a 20-year-old woman out of an elevator in her Coney Island apartment building at 9pm on Sunday. Wilson allegedly forced his victim at gunpoint into a stairwell where he raped and robbed her.

An hour later, cops say a Wilson followed a 46-year-old woman out of an elevator in the Luna Park housing complex, where he drew a gun on her and stole $30 from her purse.

City Councilman Chaim Deutsch, who represents the area where the robbery took place, release a statement Wednesday praising law enforcement for swiftly apprehending the suspect.

“This instance is another example of how vital security cameras can be in the investigation of a crime. The footage that was captured ultimately led to the identification and arrest of a suspect in this case,” Deutsch said.

The Councilman also said he had met with concerned residents to discuss safety measures since the attacks occurred.

“The victims and their families remain in all of our thoughts and prayers,” he said.

Update [December 10, 11am]: Police have confirmed that Wilson has been slapped with, rape, robbery, criminal sexual act, illegal gun possession, and assault charges — plus a parole violation — for the December 6 rape.

In addition, the suspect was charged in the robbery that occurred later that evening. In that incident, he faces robbery, gun, and parole violation charges, cops said.
