Building Licensing Problems Hamper Opening Of Christofer Bear Learning Center

Christofer Bear Advanced Early Learning Center (511 5th Avenue between 12th and 13th Streets) has been under a state of construction since the early part of 2015. It looks like the new day care center may be in a holding pattern for some time.

Although we reported that the day care center would be taking applications for the summer of 2015 — as well as this fall — the space is nowhere near ready for the pre-school program.

Owner Christofer Cassuto says that there have been problems with the building’s landlord, explaining that “the licensing of the building has become an issue and we cannot say when we will be opening.”

The space was the previous home to Malik Sportswear, which closed in November 2014.
