Drive-By Shooting Kills 1, Injures 4 in Brownsville

BROWNSVILLE – A drive-by shooting last night killed one man and sent four more to the hospital, one in critical condition, police confirmed.

Police said the incident took place just before midnight outside 333 Bristol Street, near Dumont Avenue, and set off a ShotSpotter alert. Two men pulled up in a dark blue SUV, fired shots into a crowd of people in a courtyard, then jumped in the vehicle and sped away.

An 18-year old man, who was shot in the stomach, was transported to Brookdale Hospital where he was pronounced deceased. A 21-year old man, shot in the head, was also taken to Brookdale, in critical condition. A 20-year old man, shot in the foot and shoulder, was taken to Brookdale as well, in stable condition.

Two victims were taken to Kings County Hospital, both in stable condition: a 21-year old man shot in the leg, hip and hand, along with another 21-year old man, shot in the hip and grazed in the eye.

So far, there have been no arrests, and an investigation is underway. Victims have not been identified pending family notification.
