Brooklyn Hockey Begins October 9 With New York Islanders Home Game

The New York Islanders mark their official Brooklyn coming out party at Barclays Center on Friday, October 9 with a 7:30pm game against the Chicago Blackhawks.

The 2015-2016 season opener is not, however, the Islanders’ first game in the arena, as they will play three pre-season games on September 21 (versus Philadelphia Flyers), 23 (versus New Jersey Devils), and 28 (versus Washington Capitals).

Barclays CEO Brett Yormark is touting the October 9 game as “an historic event for Brooklyn” with the “first-ever regular season National Hockey League game in the borough.”
