Brooklyn Comics And More Closing On October 31

We received some sad news today from Gary Esposito, owner of Brooklyn Comics and More (7th Avenue, between Windsor Place and Prospect Avenue):

“Due to unforeseeable and unfortunate circumstances that need more of my personal time,” he said in an email, “Brooklyn Comics is taking a hiatus and will be closing our doors on Halloween – I figured what’s more scary than your neighborhood comic shop closing. Also, it’s our 3rd anniversary, so…circle of life, I think?”

As certifiable nerds that frequent Gary’s shop, we are truly sorry to see him go. Be sure to stop by the store over the next couple of weeks for a number of big sales. All items (except where noted) will be 40-60% off. Gary also recommends St. Marks Comics and Forbidden Planet in Manhattan for all of your comic needs. If you ask for Mitch at St. Marks, he will honor your 10% Brooklyn Comics discount. Call 212-598-9439 or email tosales@stmarkscomics.com for details.

“You are the best customers a guy could ask for,” said Gary. “I hope I’m not away for too long. We will be back, maybe the same thing, maybe something different, we’ll see what the future brings, but I wanted to say so long and thanks for all the fish. I hope to see you all in the final weeks, please stop by.”

In addition to stopping by the store, be sure to dust off your geek costumes (our sonic screwdriver is at the ready) and come out to this month’s Trivia Armageddon event on Tuesday, October 29, from 8pm to 9:30pm at the Black Horse Pub (5th Avenue at 16th Street). Look for trivia, a costume contest, drink specials and more. Complete details can be found on the Brooklyn Comics and More Facebook page.
