UPDATE: Brooklyn Central Pizzeria Not For Sale
UPDATE 1/16/15: Brooklyn Central general manager Matthew reached out to report that the pizzeria is not in fact for sale — the listing has since been removed — and over on Facebook, where they cite a clerical error for the listing, they’ve got a pretty sweet deal to remind you that they’ll still be there come February:
Come warm up every Monday and Tuesday night in the cold month of February for all night happy hour at the bar and I’ll prove it to you. In addition to expanding our craft beer selection, I’m redesigning our signature cocktail list as we speak!! Mention this post and I’ll buy you a round!
We’re sure all their fans (gluten-free or not) will be glad to hear it!
EARLIER: Brooklyn Central, the brick oven Neapolitan pizzeria that opened on 5th Avenue in 2012, is listed for sale.
The restaurant, located at 289 5th Avenue, between 1st and 2nd Streets, was originally opened by Matthew Hyland and Roberto Patriarca (they split about a year in, with Patriarca staying on) in the former Pete’s Pizzeria space just over two years ago. Though a bit skeptical about a pie with bacon, roasted mozzarella, pecans, and maple syrup on top, we really enjoyed that and others we’ve tried since then, and reviews on Yelp have generally been very positive as well.
The 1,200-square-foot spot is listed by Bantam Realty, which says it’s available for rent in February. The rent is listed as negotiable and key money price is available on request, but there’s a full liquor license, seating for about 40 inside and 30 in the backyard, with eight years remaining on the lease.
Here’s hoping whatever takes up the space next can make just as good use of that gorgeous pizza oven.
