Ride Vintage Subway Trains in Brighton Beach This Weekend
BRIGHTON BEACH – In celebration of Father’s Day this weekend, the New York Transit Museum is hitting the rails with some vintage train cars to ride in Southern Brooklyn!
At the Brighton Beach B/Q stop, riders will be able to take trips on a variety of old train cars, making short shuttle trips to Ocean Parkway and longer loops out to Kings Highway—and admission is just a MetroCard swipe!
Train trips will run continuously from 11:00 am to 4:00 pm on Saturday and Sunday, June 16 and 17.
Which vintage cars will be featured? Quite a few! The Train of Many Metals, with R10, R16, and R38 cars will be making an appearance—the cars can be seen below:
Additionally, the BRT/BMT D-Type Triplex and B-Type Standard cars will be available for rides, along with a Brooklyn Union elevated gate car!
Our current MTA may be in dire need of upgrades, and plans for the future are bleak—multi-year projects closing down the L train or half the system on nights and weekends—but take a trip back in time this weekend for a nostalgic and hopefully brighter view of the subway in Brighton this weekend!
