BED-STUY—Brooklyn Borough President Eric Adams raised more than $500,000 for his 2021 mayoral run during the first half of the year, campaign finance disclosures filed Monday show. Adams’ fundraising numbers place him first among candidates in the running during 2019’s first filing period.

During the first six months of 2019, two years ahead of the Democratic primary, Adams raised $583,627.

Adams, a former police officer, and former state senator, has received contributions from 3,196 people during his campaign, records show. The average donation the borough president has received is $686, and $273,385 of donations that are eligible for matching funds dollars under the city’s campaign finance program.

In total, Adams now has $2.28 million in his campaign coffers.

“New Yorkers believe in Eric and trust that he shares their vision for our city—that’s why so many of them from such diverse backgrounds are supporting his campaign to lead the five boroughs,” said Adams campaign spokesperson Evan Thies. “And he’s just getting started.”

In the running against Adams in the mayoral primary is City Council Speaker Corey Johnson, who brought in $379,518 in 2019, and Comptroller Scott Stringer, who raised $313,087 during the filing period, and Bronx Borough President Ruben Diaz Jr., who brought in $250,000.
