Black Sea Hotel & Jason Walker Band Play Ditmas Acoustic This Sunday

Ditmas Acoustic is back this Sunday, June 17 at 7pm at the Sanctuary at Temple Beth Emeth, featuring Black Sea Hotel and neighbor Jason Walker:

Affectionately called a “punk rock version of Le Mystere des Voix Bulgares,” Black Sea Hotel is a New York-based Balkan a capella group that creates a unique approach to traditional Balkan music, generating their own inimitable arrangements and gutsy sound. Sometimes lyrical and ethereal, sometimes dissonant and driving, their distinct yet unified voices create a harmonic blend that has often been called haunting and otherworldly.
Jason Walker was a featured soloist and ensemble leader of Robert Wilson and Bernice Johnson Reagon’s Temptations of Saint Anthony. He is currently on tour with Phillip Glass and Robert Wilson’ Einstein on the Beach. Jason was the composer in the Bolton Theatre’s adaptation of the George C Wolfe’s play Spunk. Jason’s most recent performances include sharing the stage with Mick Jagger, Bono, Macy Gray, Lou Reed, and Dr. John. Jason is joined by Jeremy Brown (violin), Fred Cash (bass), and Bendjie Allonce (percussion).
