Bite Of The Day: A Bacon Cheddar Waffle From Pillow Café
If there’s anything in this world that beats the meeting of sweetness and bacon, it’s probably the meeting of sweetness, bacon, bread, and cheese. That’s what Pillow Café (505 Myrtle Avenue between Ryerson Street and Grand Avenue) has to offer with their bacon cheddar waffle–a mighty breakfast on its own, but even more spectacular with a side of eggs and seasonal fruit.
The waffle ($12.95) is fluffy inside with just a little crisp at the edges, and perfectly savory-sweet–especially with a sprinkle of powdered sugar on top. The eggs are served scrambled unless specified otherwise, and at least when we visited, the plate was garnished with blueberries and bananas. It’s probably not an everyday meal, but it’s a pretty darn stupendous treat.
Want one for yourself? Wear something with stretch, stop by Pillow Café anytime 10am-1pm Monday through Friday (or 10-3:30pm on weekends for brunch!), and enjoy.
