Bite Of The Day: Dinner At Kinjo
Walking by the slew of amazing restaurants in Fort Greene and Clinton Hill all day can really make a person hungry–and luckily for us, Kinjo (1 Greene Avenue at S Oxford Place) offers some delicious dishes to satisfy the appetite we tend to work up around town.
In addition to a regular menu of yummy eats, Kinjo’s happy hour runs until 7pm and includes deals on appetizers as well as drinks. When we stopped by recently, we enjoyed the restaurant’s takoyaki–several surprisingly creamy battered lumps of octopus meat garnished with onions, seaweed, mayonnaise, and the smoky/sweet sauce named after the dish–all for $3.
For our main course, the Kinjo Ramen was calling. Noodles and broth topped with a boiled egg, bean sprouts, pork belly, and bacon kimchee soubise together formed the ideal comfort food for this rapidly cooling weather, with the soubise adding some salty spice, and the tenderness of the pork offsetting the veggies’ fresh crunch.
Something else worth noting, if the food alone for some reason isn’t enough to get you through the door, is the fantastic service at Kinjo. Our waiter was attentive, friendly, and awfully patient and thorough in answering all of our questions–so while the grub would have already made for a great experience, suffice it to say, we left dinner with a smile (in addition to a big belly, and a container of leftover ramen we finished an hour later).
Curious to try Kinjo for yourself? The restaurant is open from 12pm-11pm Monday through Thursday, 12pm-12am on Fridays, 3pm-12am on Saturdays, and 3pm-11pm on Sundays.
