A gay man who lives in our area was the victim yesterday of what he says was a bias attack.

The 28-year-old man, who wishes to remain anonymous, was punched in the face late Sunday afternoon while walking his dog near the Parade Grounds, and then told by his assailant, “stop the fake shit,” according to police.

The assault took place around 5pm Sunday near the intersection of Parade Place and Woodruff Avenue, said cops.

Police say the assailant is unknown to the man, though the victim’s facebook page states that the individual who punched him had harassed him previously on the street with anti-gay slurs.

“This is what a gay hate crime looks like,” the victim states on his facebook page.

The victim says that he suffered six broken teeth.

According to police, the individual who punched the victim is a “black male wearing a black jacket.” The NYPD told us they canvassed the area with the victim, but he was unable to identify any possible suspects.

Police say an investigation is ongoing.
