Bedbugs at The Brooklyn Children’s Museum
Bedbugs have been found at the Brooklyn Children’s Museum, reports the NY Daily News (who then made a disgusted face and screamed “ewww!” several times).
The Daily News reports that some employees say that since the discovery of bedbugs (August 16), they fear the cleanup has not been thorough enough but the museum has continued to keep regular hours. Exterminators have returned to the museum several as more bedbugs have been found.
The issue came to light when museum employee Colleen Lynch brought the bugs home to her apartment. She became upset that the museum did not close and clean up.
“I found it intolerable to put myself at so much risk,” she said. “And many of us are uncomfortable with the ethics of keeping the museum open and not telling the public about the bugs.”
The Daily News has spoken to at least one other upset employee as well a spoksewoman for the museum, who said that the museum has followed Health Department recommendations.
“Additional fumigation will be done while the museum is closed from Sept. 10 to 21 for its usual annual cleanup,” the spokeswoman said.
