Bar Bolinas To Open In Former Maggie Brown Space

To say that many readers were disappointed at the news that the popular Maggie Brown restaurant was closing (over a month ago, on January 4) after 10 years would be putting it mildly.

So hopefully, the news that Maggie Brown owner Chelsea Altman is teaming up with fellow Brooklyn restauranteurs Nate Smith and Sophia Kamin — who are also chefs — to open a new restaurant in the same space will cheer you all up.

As announced today on the Myrtle Avenue Brooklyn Partnership’s website, the 455 Myrtle Avenue storefront will become Bar Bolinas, a Northern California-inspired eatery with a lighter, “coastal” atmosphere, due to open in March.

In case you’ve never been to Northern Cali, there is no regional cuisine set in stone, but there does tend to be an emphasis on fresh, local seafood, as well as wine, due to the area being wine country.

Altman also co-owns Allswell, Olea, Pequena, and Old Stanley’s in Bushwick, as well as previously owned the original Moe’s.
