Bandits Mugged City Sanitation Worker At Gunpoint In Sunset Park
A city sanitation worker was robbed at gunpoint while on the job in Sunset Park early Thursday morning, police said.
Two men approached the 32-year-old worker in front of 4020 Ninth Avenue at 3:10 a.m., as he was performing his duties, authorities said.
One of the suspects displayed a handgun and demanded the victim’s property. The second suspect took the victim’s wallet from his pant pocket, removed $10 in cash, and threw the wallet back at him, police sources said.
The NYPD released surveillance video of both suspects walking together before they fled westbound on 40th Street with the victim’s money.
Police describe the first suspect as a Hispanic man, 20 to 30-years-old, who was last seen wearing a white tank top and dark-colored shorts. The second suspect also believed to be a Hispanic man in his 20s with a beard, was last seen wearing a black shirt, dark colored pants, and a baseball cap.
An NYPD spokesperson said cops are still on the lookout for the bandits.
