Avoid Tickets Or Worse–Clean The Ice Off Your Walk!
The Department of Sanitation has gotten back into the swing of things this week, resuming regular refuse pickup as well as issuing tickets post-storm. A neighbor just across Coney Island Avenue wrote this morning to say a DSNY officer was issuing tickets on her block for even very small patches of ice on the sidewalk.
If you still have any ice in front of your house this afternoon, stay safe and ticket-free by following NYC’s snow and ice removal rules. If you are unable to use salt or another ice melter, then ashes, sand, sawdust, or a similar material may be an appropriate substitute. And pedestrians, take care getting around!
