Medea & Phaedra: Tragedies of Pasion, Betrayal, and Revenge

Where: BAM Fisher Fishman Space at 321 Ashland Place
What: OK, this one seems really cool so we’re suggesting it even though you’ll have to wait on standby. Elizabeth Marvel, Amy Ryan, Donnetta Lavinia Grays, and Bill Camp will perform dramatic readings of the timeless Greek plays, in a conversation led by Bryan Doerries. “Attendees will delve into under-discussed mental health issues facing our society today, such as postpartum depression and psychosis, and talk about recent incidents in our own community,” says the site of what’s sure to be a fascinating evening.

Where: Peter Jay Sharp Building at 30 Lafayette Avenue
What: Here’s a chance to see two movies which are pushing the boundaries of what’s possible in film. These two films are part of BAMcinemaFest 2016 and there will be a question and answer session with the directors afterwards.

Greenlight: An Evening With She Writes Press
When: Tuesday June 21 at 7:30 pm.
Where: 686 Fulton Street
What: Kamy Wicoff, founder of She Writes, will lead an evening showcasing the talents of She Writes authors. There will be a reading by various authors, and all manner of topics will be discussed, followed by a reception with wine and book signings.

WEDNESDAY JUNE 22

Trivia Night
When: Wednesdays from 8-11pm
Where: Putnam’s Pub at 419 Myrtle Avenue
What: Weekly trivia competition to win gift cards of $100 to Putnam’s. Beer specials all night.

Redefined and Redesigned: Defying Gender Norms In Fashion

Where: Brooklyn Historical Society, 128 Pierrepont Street
What: Anita Dolce Vita, of DapperQ, will lead “a panel of pioneering designers, models, and bloggers to explore the intersection of gender, identity, and fashion.”

Books and Brews – Book Swap

What: Peck’s is hosting its first ever book swap. All they ask that you bring up to five books and have a good time.
