Autistic Man Goes Missing From Marine Park Home
Family, friends and authorities are searching for Brian Gewirtz, a 20-year-old Marine Park man who went missing from his Coleman Street home on Tuesday.
Gewirtz, described as a white man, 5’5″ tall and weighing 130 pounds, is autistic and needs medication to treat his diabetes, according to information distributed by the family. Because of his condition, the family notes that Gewirtz may be disoriented, lethargic and shy and should be approached with a normal, calm tone of voice.
Police confirm that Gewirtz was last seen on Tuesday, February 15, at 9:30am leaving his home on Coleman Street near Quentin Road.
A family member sent out the following information on Facebook:
Brian started walking from home two days ago at 9 AM. He was wearing a maroon and grey shirt, jeans, a black winter jacket and tan hiking boots. He loves parks so may be found at one of these places: He may also be seen in places like Mcdonalds or Dunkin Donuts to keep warm and he loves pizzerias and libraries. Any 24 hour business could house him on a cold night.
Relatives are also looking for volunteers in their search. Interested volunteers can email findbriannow@gmail.com or use this Facebook page.
If seen, call 911 immediately.
