Attend "Healthy Holidays" This Sunday At The Cortelyou Early Childhood Center
Local mover and shaker Alden LaPaglia will be hosting a holiday health fair this Sunday, December 8, from 11am-3pm at the Cortelyou Early Childhood Center Annex (368 Marlborough Road on the corner of Cortelyou Road), designed to reduce your stress–and blood pressure–levels this season. Alden says of the most wonderful time of the year:
Shopping, long lines, obligations, cold weather, the sun setting at 4:30pm, and all the partying, eating and drinking take their toll. It’s no wonder people gain weight this time of year—mentally as well as physically.
This year, pace yourself by taking care of the most important person on your holiday list—you! It isn’t really about making resolutions. It’s about changing your approach. Teaching your mind how to rest and training your body how to move more—and more efficiently—will have you feeling energized rather than depleted.
Making more informed choices as to how you fuel your body will allow you to indulge here and there without guilt. Small, simple changes can help you feel better, have more of yourself to give, and make this holiday season a great one for you AND your loved ones.
Healthy Holidays will feature consultations with local fitness and wellness professionals, including Metabolic Typing with trainer Mark Anthony, Reiki and Young Living Essential Oils with Teri Gorbea, nutritional info with Registered Dietician Greg Bandolik, chair massage with therapist John Duffy, acupuncture with Melanie Severo, holistic remedies with Natural Frontier Market, and body realignment with Alden, a certified Pilates instructor, herself.
There will also be raffle prizes for massage and acupuncture sessions, nutritional coaching and cooking classes, personal training sessions and Pilates, and more.
Admission is free for kids, with a $1 suggested donation per adult, and raffle tickets are $5 each or $20 for five. All proceeds will benefit programs at the CECC, so stop in, learn how to care for yourself this draining holiday season, and support local kids and health professionals alike.
