If the kids are tired of applesauce, but you still have a million apples left over from your recent apple picking adventures, we’ve got the recipe for you.

Apple chips are crunchy, naturally sweet, healthy — and best of all — ridiculously easy to prepare.

Preheat your oven to 200 degrees.

If you have a mandoline slicer, the next step is a piece of cake: slice your apples. If you don’t have a slicer, don’t fret — I don’t either. Just use your favorite knife and slice the apples up. They’re not going to be as perfect as mandoline apple chips, but it’s fun to live on the edge.

Next, arrange your apple slices on a baking sheet. If you’re a fan of spice, sprinkle cinnamon on the slices to taste. No sugar is necessary, though, as the fruit is sweet enough as it is.

Pop your baking sheet in the oven, and go about your day.

You’ll want to give your slices a flip every 20 minutes or so, but note that it’s important to make sure you’re slices are not too thin. Otherwise, they’re going to bust up when you start to turn them.

After about two hours, you should have a bowl of delicious and crisp apple chips for the kids to devour. If for some reason you have leftovers, place them in an airtight container, and they’ll be good to go for an afternoon snack later in the week.
