Another Storm May Hit Next Week

It’s about to get colder all around New York City with wind chills dropping into the low 20s by Saturday night. As if that wasn’t enough, a possible nor’easter may be developing off the East Coast by next Tuesday or Wednesday, reports the Wall Street Journal.

Although uncertainty remains on the exact timing of the storm’s arrival, weather model agreement is improving. Should it materialize on its current track, the coastal storm should not greatly impact Election Day next Tuesday. But after that, its effects could be significant.

Various forecasts suggest the possibility of high winds of up to tropical storm force (40 mph) and snow throughout the region. One model predicted 1” of snow within New York City by Thursday evening.

Meteorologists are noting that the storm is six days out and so it’s rather early to get worried, reports the Daily News. “The forecast could change before it hits late next week,” said Forecaster Bruce Sullivan. Others echoed that sentiment but added that while there is room for optimism, we ought also to be concerned.

The bottom line seems to be that all we can do is clean up as fast as we can, help as many people as possible to shelter and warmth and then hope for the best from this possible storm.
