All Underground Subway Stations May Soon Have Cell Phone Service
We may soon lose one of the last excuses for missing a phone call. The MTA is working on a deal with Verizon to offer cell phone service to cover all 277 subway stations, which could be complete as soon as 2017. There are already 30 stations in the system with service (all in Manhattan), and 40 more in Manhattan and Queens will get coverage next year.
If you stand outside waiting for the F or G train at the 4th/9th Street station, you are already somewhat familiar with phone call chatter on the platform, but are you ready for that to be just about everywhere?
