Much like the annual Macy’s Thanksgiving parade, Santa immediately follows the Turkey Day festivities, and here in Brooklyn, that means the big man himself is about to start making local appearances!

This Saturday, November 26, he’ll be in Park Slope as part of a big holiday and local business celebration from the Park Slope Fifth Avenue Business Improvement District.

“With 520 small businesses, our tree lighting is the perfect way to kick off Small Business Saturday and the holiday season,” said Mark Caserta, Executive Director of the Park Slope Fifth Avenue BID.

In honor of Small Business Saturday, stores and restaurants that line the 30-block stretch of 5th Avenue between Dean and 18th Streets will participate by staying open late, and offering a number of holiday specials.

Then the main event: The annual tree lighting ceremony! The tree will be set up at the corner of 5th Avenue and 4th Street and the festivities start at 6:30pm. Here’s what you’ll see:

-Holiday puppets from Puppetry Arts.
-Arts & crafts
-Musical Performance from Leah Shaw
Opera on Tap carolers
-Hot chocolate from The Chocolate Room
-Other sweet treats from Du Jour Bakery, Buttermilk Bakeshop, and Bagel World
-And, of course, Santa in a vintage Pink Cadillac!

Finally, consider helping out those less fortunate this year — bring your gently used coats for collection for a New York Cares winter coat drive.
