A Line Adjustment, Winter Weather Shakeup, And More Subway Service Changes

Below you’ll find early week subway service changes for the A, C, G, B, Q, D, N, R, 2, 3, 4, and 5 lines in Brooklyn, plus the Franklin Avenue shuttle.

Check back later this week to see what’s happening this weekend. Changes via MTA.info.

Weather-Related Changes

  • Governor Andrew Cuomo announced that MTA subway service will continue Monday on a normal schedule UNTIL 7-8pm. After that, it will slow down to allow for train cars to be stored underground in order to protect them from the elements.
  • This is called Plan V: service reductions will be reduced significantly, if not shut down entirely, after 11pm.
  • PATH trains operate on a usual schedule until 9pm, at which point it will go on a weekend schedule.
  • Metro-North and LIRR trains will currently operate until 11pm. Riders should leave early, though, as Connecticut will be closing roads at an earlier hour.
  • A travel ban is being considered on all main roads as of 11pm, but a decision won’t be made until around 4pm.
  • State and city officials are urging residents to stay put.
  • Close to zero visibility may result in subways, buses, and other public transportation being shut down.

We’ll keep you updated throughout the day about changes to public transit, and for more information, you can also go to the city’s severe weather, Office of Emergency Management, and MTA websites. You can sign up here to have the MTA send you emails and/or texts about public transportation changes, and you can also follow the MTA, NYCT Subway Service, and OEM on Twitter.
