GREENPOINT – Northside ferry commuters are in for a treat this week, as a promotional campaign means a free, faster ferry connection to Manhattan.

Advertising for a new Firefox browser, Mozilla is providing free ferry service between Greenpoint Terminal in Brooklyn and lower Manhattan’s Pier 15 at South Street Seaport. The service will be offered November 14 – 16, running from 7:00 – 11:00 am and 4:00-7:00 pm each day.

Running a direct route, the ferry will save aquatic commuters about 10 mins off their normal morning maritime routine, arriving in Manhattan in just 12-14 mins. Mozilla is also promising free coffee and donuts to commuters to sweeten the deal!

The three-day promotion could be a fun opportunity for Manhattan-bound commuters to try a new route—especially as the L train closure looms ever closer, and transportation alternatives edge closer to permanent realities instead of marketing stunts.
