A July 4 Guide To Fort Greene & Clinton Hill
It’s almost the weekend! If you’re sticking around the neighborhood this Independence Day, here’s what you should know:
• Government offices, courts, and Department of Motor Vehicle offices are closed Friday, July 4.
• There is no mail delivery.
• All Brooklyn Public Library branches are closed on Friday and Saturday.
• Alternate side parking is suspended. You do not have to pay parking meters.
• There is no garbage or recycling collection. If Friday is your garbage day, put your garbage out after 5pm Friday evening. If Friday is your recycling day, wait until next week to put your recycling out.
• Staten Island Ferry Service will be suspended on Friday from 8-10pm due to the fireworks. The last boat from both terminals will be at 7:30pm, and the next boat from both terminals will be at 10pm.
• On Friday, July 4, trains and buses will operate on a special schedule (with additional trains running prior to the fireworks show).
• All area banks will be closed.
Food:
• Choice Market (318 Lafayette Avenue at Grand Avenue) will be open from 6am-9pm.
• Fresh Fanatic (275 Park Avenue between Waverly Avenue and Hall Street) will be open 8am-11pm.
• Greene Grape (767 Fulton Street between South Oxford Street and South Portland Avenue) is open 12-10pm.
• Key Food (325 Lafayette Avenue at Grand Avenue) will be open from 7am-10pm.
• Pathmark (625 Atlantic Avenue at Fort Greene Place) will be open 24 hours.
• Peck’s Specialty Foods (455A Myrtle Avenue between Washington and Waverly Avenues) is closed, so if you need a rotisserie chicken, get your butt in there today.
Drinks
• Corkscrew Brooklyn (489 Myrtle Avenue between Hall and Ryerson Streets) will be open from 12-6pm.
• Grapeshot Wine & Spirits (64 Washington Avenue between Flushing and Park Avenues) will definitely be open 12-8pm, and could stay open as late as 10pm. Give them a call (347-457-6448) before heading over.
• Olivino (905 Fulton Street at Clinton Avenue) is open 12-10pm.
• Tipsy (584 Myrtle Avenue between Classon Avenue and Emerson Place) is planning to stay open 12-10pm, but call 347-599-1672 ahead to be sure.
• Gnarly Vines (350 Myrtle Avenue between Adelphi Street and Carlton Avenue) is open 12-10pm.
