A Comprehensive List Of Local Streets To Be Repaved This Summer
Pesky potholes, be gone!
Numerous crater-pocked streets throughout Bensonhurst, Gravesend, Borough Park, and Coney Island will be touched up this summer, announced City Council members Mark Treyger and David Greenfield this week.
Treyger and Greenfield worked closely with Brooklyn Department of Transportation (DOT) Commissioner Keith Bray to identify the streets across the 44th and 47th Districts that are most in need of repairs, based on road conditions and traffic volume. The work is scheduled for the summer months when schools are closed and many residents are away on vacation, in order to pose the least amount of inconvenience to drivers and pedestrians.
Treyger said he secured $400,000 in this year’s city budget to include additional streets in this summer’s repaving schedule.
“These resurfacing projects will bring relief to thousands of drivers, cyclists and pedestrians who currently have to dodge potholes and crumbling pavement as they use our streets. We have already seen great progress over the past month as 25th Avenue, 28th Avenue, Cropsey Avenue, Avenue U and other areas were repaved, and this effort will continue with additional projects across the district over the coming weeks,” said Treyger.
City Councilman Chaim Deutsch, whose district includes Sheepshead Bay, Brighton Beach, Brightwater Towers, Luna Park, Madison, Manhattan Beach, Midwood, and Trump Village, has also allocated funds to the DOT so that streets can be repaved, the Councilman announced in an email.
