88th Precinct Crime Statistics: Week Of November 9-15, Plus Reduced Crime And More Patrols Near Applebees
The good news: there was a decrease in felony assaults and grand larcenies this week compared to last week, and a tick down in overall crime, as well. Crime also dropped across the board in the other categories of transit, housing, petit larceny, misdemeanor assault, and misdemeanor sex crimes.
There was a slight increase in burglaries, though.
The NYPD has also released a photo and details about the suspected shooter in September’s triple homicide at Ingersoll Houses, so hopefully apprehending him will occur soon and continue the good news streak through the holiday season and into the new year.
According to 88th Precinct Executive Officer Noema Ioffe, the precinct is patrolling near Flatbush and DeKalb Avenues from 7am to 12am — 17 hours of the day — with both plainclothes and uniformed officers. “It allows us to observe, collect intelligence, and prevent violence,” she said at the November meeting of the precinct community council. “We’re also monitoring social media [for leads].”
This news follows last week’s announcement from the NYPD’s Housing Unit with Police Service Area 3 (PSA 3) that new officers would be coming to patrol and interact with residents of Ingersoll and Whitman Houses.
The next 88th Precinct Community Council meeting will be Tuesday, December 15 at 7pm, location TBD.
The next meeting of the Public Service Area 3 (housing police) is Wednesday, December 2, at 585 DeKalb Avenue.
CompStat reports are produced by the New York Police Department on a weekly basis. We publish the week’s statistics for the 88th Precinct reports every week. The 88th Precinct is the police command that oversees Fort Greene and Clinton Hill.
