Reported crime began a ticking steadily down between August 10-16, after a few weeks of see-sawing back and forth. There were no shootings during this past week (phew!), compared to the previous week‘s (August 3-9) one shooting and two injuries, and July 27-August 2’s one shooting.

Reported crime fell in the following categories:

  • rapes (form 1 to 0)
  • felony assault (from 5 to 2)
  • burglary (from 4 to 2)
  • grand larceny (from 12 to 4)
  • auto thefts (from 4 to 1)
  • housing (form 3 to 1)
  • misdemeanor sex crimes (from 1 to 0)
  • shootings and victims (from 2 and 1, to 0)

Meanwhile, crime rose in these categories:

  • robberies (from 1 to 3)
  • transit (from 0 to 1)
  • petit larceny (from 18 to 20)

And these stayed the same:

  • misdemeanor assault (four)

The next 88th Precinct Community Council meeting will be in SEPTEMBER.

CompStat reports are produced by the New York Police Department on a weekly basis. We publish the week’s statistics for the 88th Precinct reports every week. The 88th Precinct is the police command that oversees Fort Greene and Clinton Hill.
