88th Precinct Crime Statistics: A Rise In Shootings And A Fall In Larcenies And Assaults
The second week of July (July 6-12) saw a reversal of the previous week’s (June 29-July 5) rises and falls of crime statistics — the categories that saw fewer crimes last week saw more this week, and vice versa.
For example, the jump in petit larcenies between two weeks prior (June 22-28) and last week dropped again this week. And shootings went from 0 to 2 between last week and this week in the 88th Precinct.
Reported crime fell in the following categories:
- grand larcenies (from 9 to 5)
- petit larcenies (from 21 to 9)
- misdemeanor assaults (from 6 to 3)
Meanwhile, crime jumped in these categories:
- robberies (from 0 to 1)
- felony assaults (from 2 to 7)
- shootings and victims (from 0 to 2 each)
And they stayed the same — one incident each:
- burglaries
- auto thefts
- misdemeanor sex crimes
