7th Avenue Update: Spectacles & Subway Spaces For Rent, Action At Former Cheeburger Cheeburger

Looks like we may need to update the list of vacant storefronts along 7th Avenue, as the number just continues to grow.

The space at 107A 7th Ave on the corner of President has signs in the windows noting it’s for rent. Spectacles of 7th Avenue, which opened in 2012 (though the space has been home to an optical shop for more than 30 years), will be leaving this space in November, hopefully to someplace new in the neighborhood.

Up the street, the space housing Subway at 83 7th Avenue, between Berkeley and Union, is also for rent, as Here’s Park Slope noticed yesterday. The franchise opened in 2012 after Leaf and Bean moved to their now-closed Lincoln Place store.

The space is 1,100 square feet and includes a 900-square-foot backyard, and it’s available for $7,975 per month.

Meanwhile, things are looking a bit less grim for the space at 222 7th Avenue, on the corner of 3rd Street, where Cheeburger Cheeburger was until it closed abruptly last month. The old signage has come down, and we’ve noticed some work going on inside recently. A permit issued earlier this month by the Department of Buildings confirms there’s a renovation going on, so stay tuned.
