70th Precinct Reminder About Gun Programs
The 70th Precinct sends a reminder about the many programs the NYPD offers to help end the violence on our streets by apprehending those responsible:
Gun Stop: You can make an anonymous tip and receive an award of $1,000 for information leading to the arrest of anyone possessing an illegal handgun by calling 1-866-GUN-STOP.
Cash for Guns: Turn in any operable handgun to your local precinct, transit district, or housing police service area and receive a $100 cash reward.
Crime Stoppers: You don’t have to reveal your identity to help solve violent crimes. Rewards of up to $2,000 are offered for information regarding a crime committed or a wanted person by anonymously calling our tip line at 1-800-577-TIPS, texting TIP577 plus your message to “CRIMES” (274637), or online. This service is also available in Spanish by calling 1-888-57-PISTA.
Cop Shot: For information leading to the arrest and conviction of anyone who shoots or shoots at a NYC Police Officer, a standing $10,000 reward is offered.
Finally, a reminder that the National Night Out Against Crime is tomorrow, Tuesday, August 7, from 6:30-9pm at the Parade Ground. It’s a great chance to get to know your local officers (and also eat some free BBQ).
