66th Precinct Commander Remarks On Crimes In The Area This Summer

A message with well wishes for a great new season from our 66th Precinct Commander, Michael J. Deddo. Welcoming KensingtonBK readers back from their summer recess, Deputy Inspector Deddo sent along a report telling us what the precinct accomplished while everyone else was on vacation.

“…[F]rom  7/1/14 till 8/31/14 the precinct had an 8% decrease in robberies from last year and a 2% decrease in burglaries. The only crime where we showed an increase was grand larceny. We had 13 more this summer than last. This was driven mostly by credit card fraud and banking account issues. Overall year-to-date the precinct has a decrease of 64 crimes (8.3%).”

And now that the school year has started, Commander Deddo encourages safe, careful, driving — especially since “our children may still be in Vacation Mode.” He closes saying, “I hope to see you soon.”

Above is the final 66th Precinct CompStat report for August, covering August 25-31, which is a portion of the dates Deddo mentioned. And a precinct spokesperson told us we could expect an updated Kensington felony report within a week or two, covering mid-July to the present.

The next 66th Precinct Community Council meeting will take place at Community Board 12’s office on Thursday, September 18 at 7:30pm. The commander, his top brass, and the Community Affairs crew will also be at the Patrol Borough Brooklyn South event this Sunday, September 14 from 11am to 5pm in Prospect Park.
