4 Summer Camps in Prospect Park

Prospect Park is the most accessible greenspace in Brooklyn with the Q/B train running along its eastern side, the F/G line on the western side, and the 2/3/4/5 trains near Grand Army Plaza at the north end.  Prospect Park is an easy walk from Park Slope, Windsor Terrace, Kensington, Ditmas Park, Prospect-Lefferts Garden, and Prospect Heights.

It’s no wonder so many summer camps set up a base in Prospect Park.

LeFrak Center at Lakeside was Prospect Park Alliance’s most ambitious and expensive project in the past 150 years. It transformed the southeast corner of Prospect Park and opened up a reasonably priced summer camp. Campers get to take advantage of the brand new, $74 million, indoor/outdoor facility. Much of the summer camp will be devoted to roller skating.

Just south of Prospect Park, in the Parade Grounds, is the Home Run Baseball Camp dugout. Young athletes play ball on the well-maintained turf fields. If weather is inclement, Home Run Baseball has an indoor facility nearby.

Trail Blazer’s base camp is in Prospect-Lefferts Garden, but campers spend most of their time blazing trails through Prospect Park. Campers explore nature and learn to be good environmental stewards through hands-on experience in Prospect Park.
