“33,” A New Wine And Tapas Bar, Is Coming To Former Dare Books Space

It looks like a new wine and tapas bar called “33” is coming to the former Dare Books space at 33 Lafayette Avenue, with an opening date of some time before the end of the year.

Two large signs recently went up in the storefront windows, announcing the “premier theatre wine and tapas bar” with “rustic Americana cuisine, great wines, and champagne” and the fact that it is accepting reservations for future engagements. The space will also include an outdoor beer garden.

Restaurant representative Vincent told us that while construction is almost complete, the space is undergoing plumbing inspections and depending on the results, the restaurant could open as soon as October.

“This is our first time doing a project like this, and we’ll have simple old American dishes, stew, roasted and baked chicken, no fried foods, lots of pasta dishes. . . It’ll be rustic with small dishes because our focus is on people who are going to the theater [at BAM]. We want to carve ourselves [that niche] of serving the clientele looking for a quick bite to eat.”

While we still miss Dare Books, the menu sounds promising and we look forward to seeing it in action. Good luck to them and we’ll let you know of any updates as to when it will open.
