2019 Park Slope Civic Council Community Grant Applications Due Dec. 14
PARK SLOPE – Each year, the Park Slope Civic Council (PSCC) awards local non-profit organizations grants to help support their projects focusing on the arts, education, youth programs, and community improvement.
PSCC is currently accepting applications for the 2019 Community Grant program. The deadline to apply is Friday, December 14.
The Council judges each application based on a project’s impact to the community, its overall “merits and viability,” and the number of people it will serve. Award amounts range from $500 to $1,000.
Last year, PSCC awarded grants to eight small, non-profit, community organizations. They included:
Camp Friendship – to help establish JOAD (Junior Olympic Archery Development), a nationwide program of USA Archery that provides archery classes to youths.
Friends of Pacific Library – to provide funding for two benches in the library’s green space for seating for library patrons as well as various events.
GreenSpace on Fourth Community Garden – to help in the purchase of microscopes and supplies for a new Plant and Soil Workshop program for adults and children at this community garden located between Sackett and Union Streets.
Heights & Hills – to help purchase paint brushes, pencils, paint, and other supplies for a new arts therapy program at the Park Slope Center for Successful Aging.
One Breath Rising Inc. – to bring ten musicians to 440 Gallery for performances as part of a program dedicated to helping artists who work in the African-American tradition present their work.
Piper Theatre Productions – to help Piper Theatre present free outdoor performances at local libraries.
PS 39 PTA/Green Committee – to help PS 39 4th and 5th graders plant bulbs and flowers and build tree pit benches around seven trees along 6th Avenue and 8th Street.
T.E.A.L. (Tell Every Amazing Lady) – the grant will support the development of the organization’s Youth Ambassador program that educates women and girls about ovarian cancer.
