1871 Map of Prospect Park

This 1871 map of Prospect Park by Olmsted, Vaux & Co, Landscape Architects is the map of the month on the Brooklyn Historical Society’s terrific blog. The shaded area around was land that was for sale, some of which now holds the Brooklyn Botanic Garden. And in our area, you can see that our well-known avenues used to be called Coney Island Road and Flatbush Road.
