A full-stop work order has been affixed to the front of the building at 3100 Ocean Avenue in Sheepshead since July 13.

A sign advertizes the coming NetCost Market at 3100 Ocean Ave (Liena Zagare/BKLYNER)

NetCost Market will replace the Gala Fresh that operated in the space for a just a year after taking over from Waldbaum’s, we reported at the beginning of the summer.

Back in June, demolition inside of what once was Gala Fresh grocery store was going full speed ahead with a couple of dumpsters outside.

A complaint that construction was underway without a permit was entered May 21, according to NYC Department of Buildings records.  Two work permits on the storefront, dated May 30 and June 16, respectively, seem to address that issue. However, the records also show that a “failure to provide plans at job site at time of inspection” on July 13 resulted in the full-stop work order.

Neighbors we met this morning were just frustrated with the time it is taking to reopen a grocery store at the location.
