Woman Killed By Van On New Utrecht Avenue & 65th Street
A woman in her fifties was fatally struck by a van near New Utrecht Avenue and 65th Street early this morning.
The 25-year-old male driver of a 2005 Ford van was driving westbound on 65th Street at 6:30am when he struck the woman as she was crossing the street in the crosswalk, according to a preliminary police investigation.
The woman — whose identity is being withheld pending family notification — was transported to Maimonides Hospital, where she was pronounced dead, say police.
The motorist remained at the scene, according to the NYPD. No arrests have been made and an investigation is ongoing.
