Woman Hoarded Weapons — Including Live Grenades — In Bath Beach Home

A Bath Beach woman was arrested Wednesday after police found that she was hoarding dozens of weapons in her apartment — including live grenades and a launcher.

Helen Chin, 53, lives in the 8699 19th Avenue apartment and was charged with numerous counts of criminal possession of a weapon and criminal possession of ammunition. Among the stockpile were 14 rifles, three shotguns, six handguns, two flare guns, and approximately 10,000 rounds of ammunition, according to police.

The NYPD’s Impersonation Division stumbled across Chin and her stockade of artillery through their tracking of fake NYPD IDs that were discovered by the Department of Homeland Security. Cops linked the IDs to James Lee, Chin’s recently deceased husband, who amassed the weapons, reports ABC News.

Cops at the 62nd Precinct are really cleaning up the neighborhood. The crime unit was honored this week for making a record 33 arrests over the span of a month, and now they can add the confiscation two dozen weapons — which may have ended up on the street — to their list of accomplishments.
