Woman Attacks Q Train Passenger, Hurls ‘Racial Profanities’ During Arrest

A woman yelled “racial profanities” at police when she was arrested Saturday at the Kings Highway station for attacking a passenger on the Q train, PIX11 reports.

The assault occurred on a northbound train during the morning rush hour, according to the news station. The attacker, 25-year-old Monique Barbaro, from Queens, had been lying across the seats when she abruptly stood up and at shouted at a female passenger to move.

Barbaro then followed the woman down the train car and began punching her in the face and head, police told PIX11. Other passengers called 911 and Barbaro was arrested when she got off at the Kings Highway station with the victim.

First responders were called to the scene at 9am, according the PIX11. The victim reportedly refused medical attention.

A witness told PIX11 that Barbaro, who is black, screamed “racial profanities” at officers during her arrest.

The NYPD reported Barbaro has five previous arrests, according to PIX11. In October, she got into a brawl with a store owner and customer after she tried to swipe a man’s phone inside the business. The man allegedly hit her after she refused to give back the device, claiming it belonged to friend. Barbaro responded by throwing the man to the ground, breaking a fan, and then attacked the store owner, police told PIX11.

She was also arrested In December for breaking into a Bronx apartment window and harassing the tenant. The news station reports Barbaro had marijuana on her at the time.

Last week, she was reportedly picked up by police again. This time for smoking marijuana in the lobby of a Queens apartment building.

Police did not immediately charge Barbaro for the attack. They said she was receiving a psychological evaluation, according to PIX11.
