Windsor Terrace Walgreens Gets Closer To Opening, Is Hiring

It looks like we’re actually, at long last, getting closer to the opening of the Windsor Terrace Walgreens, located on Prospect Avenue at 11th Avenue — though it seems like we’ll still have to wait a while for the Key Food.

Opening dates for the Walgreens have come and gone — first they said spring, then July, then August 15 — but now the construction fencing is down, and neighbor Tom Prendergast recently noticed a sign in the window which gives us a little hope that we’re getting there for real this time.

The Walgreens is hiring — if you’re interested, call 718-252-6350, and ask to speak to the store manager.

As for the Key Food — or the shell we can see from the outside, anyway — things look less hopeful.

Earlier this year, Assemblymember Jim Brennan reported the Key Food should “be ready to open for business in the first week of October of 2014, though, hopefully sooner if at all possible.”

More recently, local advocacy group Green Beans Not Walgreens joined political representatives and other community members to tour the construction site, and heard the Key Food would open at some point after September 15.

We’ll continue to update as we learn more.
