Who Makes the Best Jerk Chicken?

It’s been a couple of years since someone ventured down our way to attempt a very noble, possibly impossible feat: to try to find the best jerk chicken in the area. But the Village Voice gave it a lip-smacking shot, and what they found is just what the Brooklyn Paper decided in 2011 — that Exquisite Express (2847 Church Ave) has the best version around:

..where flames shooting from the gas grill can be seen through the schmalz-smeared windows. The poultry’s slightly charred skin is still intact, the flesh moist and smoky. Two excellent sauces are tendered—one thin and tart, the other thicker and tasting of fresh herbs. Both are hot as Hades. Get the sweet golf-ball-size fritter called “festival” to go alongside.

If heading over to Church and Nostrand is too much of a hike, the Voice offers a few alternative picks, including the popular Peppa’s (730 Flatbush Ave), and the Church Ave outpost of Fisherman’s Cove (we have to assume the recipes are the same at the Newkirk Plaza spot), which they say “turns out a tasty product grilled over flame, though the sauce proves too tomatoey.”

When you’re in the mood for jerk chicken (which we so are now), where do you go?
